Light Oaks Junior School - Educational Establishment of the Year 2015

UK Heart Awards 134

"We were absolutely shocked and delighted to be awarded the Heart Safe Educational Establishment of the Year 2014.  The awards ceremony was something else and not what we expected.  The whole evening was well organised,  extremely impressive and really brought home the importance of having first aid knowledge and the difference between life and death an AED can make.   Being able to listen to other people’s stories and share their experiences was really interesting while at the same time quite humbling.  The DVD really brought home what Hand on Heart was all about and the fantastic work that has been achieved by your charity so far.

No words can describe the immense pleasure and pride that we felt when our school’s name was called out to receive the award.  The reaction from other attendees congratulating us as we walked up to the front to receive our award was overwhelming.  I can only liken the whole experience to how celebrities must feel when they win an Oscar!!!

We hope to continue to build from our success and at the same time spread the word about your charity and just what a difference an AED can make to not only an individual’s life but a whole family.

The North of England Zoological Society (ChesterZoo) has been named Leisure and Tourism Business of the Year in the UK Heart Safe Awards 2015.

“Receiving any kind of award is a great achievement, even being nominated for the UK Heart Safe Awards is an incredibl honor, particularly given the extraordinary strength of the field this year, but to win against such strong competition is just amazing. The award was collected by the whole team as it is very much a team effort to deliver first class First Aid and I was very proud to have them all with me on the evening and that we were all able to celebrate together. This was the first time we entered these awards and we will certainly re-enter next year as we continue to improve the level of service we offer, by introducing the Heart-Start training to all staff, this will hopefully give them the essential skills and confidence to take action in an emergency and potentially save lives.”

Louise Burgess from the Waterside Arts Centre has been named Life Saver of the Year in the UK Heart Safe Awards 2015.

“Hand on heart is a truly wonderful charity and I am honored to have been nominated for an award let alone winning. I only did what any one else would do when faced with a similar situation. It could have been a different outcome without the defibrillator and I am very thankful it was there.”
